About Pages CMS

Pages CMS is a small open-source CMS that gives static sites a friendly editing interface on top of a GitHub repository. You add a single configuration file describing your content folders and fields, sign in at the hosted app with GitHub, and editors can then change Markdown, YAML and JSON content and upload media through forms, with every change committed back to the repo. There is no database, API or extra backend to run, and it works with any static site generator, including Hugo, Jekyll, Eleventy, Astro and Next.js. The hosted version is free, and the MIT-licensed code can be self-hosted. It suits small sites, documentation and personal projects where a developer wants to hand content editing to someone else without a full CMS. The trade-offs are that it only supports GitHub, offers basic field types and permissions, and is maintained by a small team, so it lacks the workflows and support of commercial products.

Best for: Developers handing content editing on small GitHub-hosted static sites to others.
