About Photomator
Photomator comes from the Pixelmator team, now part of Apple, and is aimed at photographers who live in Apple Photos. Instead of importing images into a separate catalogue, it browses and edits your Photos library directly and syncs edits back, while also opening files from anywhere on disk. It offers the colour adjustments you would expect from a Lightroom-style editor, along with AI selections of subject, sky and background, linear and radial masks, Denoise, Super Resolution, ML Crop and a Repair tool that removes objects. Batch editing lets you copy adjustments across hundreds of photos, and it supports over 750 RAW formats including Apple ProRAW. It is limited to Apple platforms and has no plug-in ecosystem. Photomator is sold through the App Store, with one licence covering Mac, iPad, iPhone and Apple Vision Pro.
Best for: Apple users who want serious photo edits without leaving their Photos library.
