About DxO PhotoLab

PhotoLab comes from DxO, a company best known for measuring cameras and lenses, and that heritage shows in its automatic optical corrections for distortion, vignetting and softness based on lab-tested lens profiles. Its DeepPRIME noise reduction and demosaicing is widely considered among the best for high-ISO RAW files, and is also sold separately as DxO PureRAW for Lightroom users. PhotoLab adds local adjustments with control points and masks, a colour wheel, film-style rendering through FilmPack integration, and a basic photo library. It does not try to be a layered compositing editor, so retouching beyond spot removal usually happens in another app. DxO sells PhotoLab as a perpetual licence rather than a subscription, with paid upgrades for major versions, and offers a free trial. It runs on Windows and macOS.

Best for: Photographers who shoot in low light and want the cleanest RAW conversions without a subscription.
