About RemNote

RemNote combines an outliner-style note editor with flashcards, so you can write notes and mark parts of them as questions without leaving the page. Cards are reviewed with spaced repetition, and the app adds PDF annotation, image occlusion, an exam scheduler, a lecture recorder and AI tools that generate cards, quizzes and summaries from your notes or PDFs. It began at MIT in 2020 and is aimed squarely at students preparing for exams such as medical boards or language tests. The free plan includes unlimited notes and flashcards with limits on PDFs, images and AI credits; Pro and Pro with AI subscriptions lift those limits. It runs on the web, Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android, and works offline. The downsides are a busy interface with a lot to learn, and AI features that consume credits quickly. It suits students who want notes and revision in one place.

Best for: Students who want to write notes and study them as flashcards in one app.
