About Notesnook

Notesnook is a notes app built so that only you can read your notes: everything is end-to-end encrypted on your device, and both the apps and the sync server are open source. It offers a rich-text editor with tables, checklists, code blocks and attachments, notebooks and tags, note locking, an app lock, version history, web clipping and publishing a note as a link. The free plan includes unlimited notes on unlimited devices, while paid plans add more storage, larger files, more notebooks and extra features, with a 14-day trial and a long-term plan option. It runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS and the web, and you can self-host the sync server. The trade-offs are that encryption limits server-side features such as full collaboration, and some organising features are capped on the free plan. It suits people who want an Evernote-style app without giving up privacy.

Best for: Privacy-conscious users who want an encrypted, Evernote-style notes app.
