About Surfer
Surfer, formerly Surfer SEO, helps writers and content teams create pages that cover a topic as thoroughly as the pages already ranking for it. Its Content Editor analyses the search results for a keyword and suggests terms, headings, length and structure, scoring your draft as you write, and it can generate briefs and AI drafts. Other features include a site audit focused on content, topical maps, plagiarism checks, rank-drop detection and, more recently, tracking how often a brand is cited in AI search engines. It integrates with Google Docs and WordPress. It is popular with content marketers, agencies and affiliate publishers. Plans are billed monthly or yearly in tiers, with AI visibility tracking available separately. Following its suggestions too literally can produce formulaic writing, and it is not a full SEO suite, so keyword and backlink research still need another tool. It runs in the browser.
Best for: Content teams optimising articles to compete with top-ranking pages.
