About Swinsian
Swinsian is a music player for macOS aimed at people with large local libraries who find Apple's Music app limiting. It plays a long list of formats, including FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, Opus, WMA, APE and DSF, as well as the usual MP3, AAC and ALAC, watches folders to pick up new files automatically, and has an advanced tag editor for batch-editing metadata. Its interface is a fast, iTunes-like column browser, and it supports smart playlists, gapless playback, a graphic equaliser, cue files, AppleScript control and syncing to some devices. It is developed by a very small team. Swinsian is sold as a one-off purchase with a free trial. It is Mac-only, has no mobile companion app, and doesn't stream from services or servers, so it suits desktop listeners rather than people who want their library on their phone. Updates come at a slow pace.
Best for: Mac users with big local libraries who want an iTunes-style player with better format support.
