About Termux
Termux is an open-source Android app that gives you a terminal and a real Linux userland without rooting the phone. It installs a minimal base system and lets you add thousands of packages with the APT package manager: shells such as bash, zsh and fish, editors like Vim and Neovim, languages including Python, Node.js and Rust, OpenSSH for connecting to servers or running an SSH server, Git and much more. Add-on apps provide access to Android features such as the camera, notifications and sensors, plus widgets, floating windows and styling. It is free and community-maintained. The recommended builds come from F-Droid or GitHub, because the Google Play version has historically lagged behind due to Android policy restrictions. It is Android only, typing on a phone keyboard needs patience, and some packages behave differently because Android is not a standard Linux distribution.
Best for: Android users who want a real Linux shell and dev tools on their phone or tablet.
