About Wallspace

Wallspace is a live wallpaper app for the Mac, written natively in Swift rather than as a web wrapper. It plays animated, video-based wallpapers behind your desktop icons from a curated gallery of more than a thousand clips, and it can also use any MP4 file you already have. It supports several monitors with a different wallpaper on each, includes an AI search that finds wallpapers from a description of a mood or scene, and pauses playback on battery or under heavy load to save power. On macOS 26 and later it can also put live wallpapers on the lock screen. The app needs no account and shows no ads. The free version covers the curated gallery; a one-time Pro upgrade adds premium collections, lock screen wallpapers, custom videos, community uploads and automatic wallpaper changes, with multi-Mac licences sold at a discount. It requires macOS 15 or later and can be installed from the website or through Homebrew.

Best for: Mac users who want animated wallpapers without a subscription or an account.
