About Whereby

Whereby, originally called appear.in, is a Norwegian video meeting service built around permanent room links. Hosts get a room such as whereby.com/yourname, and guests join from a desktop or mobile browser with no download and no login. It covers what most small teams need: screen sharing, recording, chat, reactions, background effects and breakout groups. Its second product, Whereby Embedded, is an API and SDK for adding video calls to your own website or app, and is popular with telehealth, education and marketplace platforms; it is charged by usage, while the Meetings product is charged per user licence. Being European, it markets itself on GDPR compliance. It is not built for webinars or very large meetings, and the free option has shrunk over the years, so check current plans. It suits consultants, therapists, small teams and product builders who value simplicity and a link that never changes.

Best for: Small teams and client-facing professionals who want simple, permanent meeting links.
