FigJam vs Miro
Updated October 2026 · AppBreakup editorial

FigJam
Figma's friendly online whiteboard for brainstorming, diagrams and team meetings.

Miro
The most widely used online whiteboard, with templates, diagrams, docs and AI on one canvas.
The short answer
FigJam is the natural choice for product and design teams already paying for Figma, since it comes with every Figma seat. Miro is the stronger choice for cross-team workshops, planning and facilitation, with more templates and integrations. The biggest difference is context: FigJam lives inside Figma's file system, while Miro is a standalone whiteboard built for the whole company.
FigJam or Miro: our take
FigJam is Figma's whiteboard, with a playful, approachable interface: sticky notes, connectors, stamps and emotes, sections, tables, timers and voting, plus Figma community widgets and AI that sorts stickies and summarises ideas. Because it shares Figma's files, designers can paste frames from design files and discuss work in the same place. Miro is a broader canvas that combines sticky notes and diagrams with docs, tables, kanban cards, timelines and slides, a huge template library and fuller facilitation tools for large workshops.
The pricing logic is different. FigJam is included with all Figma seats on every plan, and Figma's Collab seat gives non-designers FigJam access for $3 a month on the Professional plan; the free Starter plan offers limited access. Open sessions let guests join a board for 24 hours without signing in. Miro's free plan allows three editable boards, with Starter at $8 per member a month and Business at $20 per member a month, billed yearly. For a company already on Figma, FigJam is often close to free; for one that is not, Miro is a self-contained purchase.
Platforms and integrations favour Miro. It has web, Mac, Windows, iOS and Android apps and connects with Jira, Asana, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, Slack and Zoom. FigJam runs in the browser and Figma's desktop apps, with an iPad app but no Android app.
Pick FigJam if your product team works in Figma and mostly needs a friendly space for brainstorming, retros and flow diagrams next to design work. Pick Miro if the board will be shared across departments, you run large facilitated workshops, or you need it connected to the rest of your tools.

About each app
What is FigJam?
FigJam is Figma's whiteboard, built for brainstorming, diagramming, retrospectives and meetings with a playful, approachable style. It has sticky notes, shapes and connectors, stamps and emotes, sections, tables, timers and voting, plus widgets and plugins from the Figma community. AI tools can generate templates, sort stickies and summarise ideas. Because it shares Figma's file system, design teams can paste frames from Figma files, link to them and discuss work in the same place. FigJam is included with every Figma seat, and Figma's Collab seat gives non-designers access to FigJam and Slides at a low monthly price; the free Starter plan offers limited access. Open sessions let anyone join a board for a day without signing in. It runs in the browser and Figma's desktop apps, and there is a FigJam app for iPad. Its structure and facilitation tools are lighter than Miro's or Mural's for large workshops, but for product teams already in Figma it is the obvious choice.
What is Miro?
Miro is the default online whiteboard for many companies, used for brainstorming, workshops, retrospectives, journey maps, roadmaps and diagramming on an infinite canvas. Boards combine sticky notes, shapes, frames, tables, docs, kanban cards, timelines and slides, and a huge template library covers most workshop formats. Facilitation tools such as timers, voting and private mode help run sessions, and AI features can cluster notes, summarise boards or generate diagrams. Miro integrates with Jira, Asana, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom and many others. The free plan lets you keep three editable boards; paid plans priced per member add unlimited boards, private boards, guests, version history and higher-resolution exports, and enterprise plans add SSO and governance controls. It works in the browser and has desktop apps for Mac and Windows plus mobile apps for iOS and Android. The breadth can make it feel busy, and costs add up across large teams, but it is the safe choice for cross-team visual collaboration.
