About Apple Maps

Apple Maps is the map app that comes with every iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, and it is also available in a web version. It offers driving directions with lane guidance, real-time public transit information, cycling routes with elevation profiles, and walking directions that can use augmented reality to show the way. Look Around provides 360-degree street-level imagery in many cities, and Flyover shows 3D views of major areas. Place cards bring together hours, photos and payment options, and editorial Guides suggest places to visit. Maps syncs with Siri, Calendar and CarPlay. It is free, carries no ads, and Apple says it blurs faces and licence plates in its imagery and keeps location history off user accounts. Coverage of businesses and reviews is thinner than Google's in many countries, and the full experience depends on owning Apple devices.

Best for: iPhone and Mac owners who want good built-in navigation without a Google account.
