About Better Shot
Better Shot is a native macOS app that combines a screenshot tool and a screen recorder in one menu bar utility. Screenshots can be captured by region, window or full screen, then annotated with arrows, text, shapes and numbered markers, blurred where needed, and placed on gradient backgrounds with padding and shadows. The recorder captures screen, camera and audio, adds automatic cursor zoom, and opens in a built-in editor for trimming, splitting, speed changes, masks and on-device captions. It also includes OCR, a colour picker and a URL scheme for triggering captures from Raycast, Alfred or Shortcuts. Everything runs locally with no account; share links only work if you connect your own Cloudflare R2 bucket. The app is completely free under the BSD 3-Clause licence, with no paid tier or watermark, and needs macOS 14 or later. It is a young project, so expect fewer integrations and less polish than long-established paid tools.
