About Greenshot

Greenshot is a small screenshot utility for Windows that has been around for well over a decade. It sits in the system tray and grabs a selected region, a single window or the whole screen from a hotkey, then opens the capture in its own editor. There you can add arrows, boxes, text and highlights, or blur and pixelate parts you don't want to share. Finished captures can be saved to a file, copied to the clipboard, printed, attached to an email, sent to Office apps or passed to upload plugins. It suits people who take a lot of screenshots for documentation, bug reports or support tickets and want something light that stays out of the way. The Windows version is free and released under the GPL, with source code on GitHub; the project is funded by donations and ads on its website. It does not record video or offer cloud hosting of its own, and there is no Linux build.

Best for: Windows users who want a free, lightweight screenshot tool with simple annotation and export options.
