About Dragon Professional
Dragon has been the reference for professional dictation for decades. Now owned by Microsoft through its acquisition of Nuance, the current business product is Dragon Professional Anywhere, a cloud-hosted subscription that lets employees dictate documents, emails and forms, and control their computer by voice. It promises high accuracy without voice-profile training, automatic accent and microphone adjustment, custom words and commands, and support for virtual desktop environments such as Citrix and VMware, with the Nuance Management Center for licence and usage administration. It runs on Microsoft Azure data centres. Pricing is by subscription through Nuance and its resellers, aimed at organisations, while Microsoft's healthcare products, such as Dragon Copilot and Dragon Medical One, cover clinical use. Dragon remains strong for legal, insurance and public-sector dictation, but for individuals, newer AI dictation apps are cheaper and easier to start with.
Best for: Organisations that need managed, accurate dictation and voice control for many staff.
