About Topaz Photo
Topaz Photo, from Topaz Labs, is an AI enhancement tool rather than a full editor. It analyses an image and applies trained models to remove noise, recover sharpness from motion or focus blur, upscale resolution, recover faces and fix lighting, either automatically through an autopilot mode or with manual control of each step. It runs locally on your computer and also as a plug-in for Lightroom and Photoshop, which is how many photographers use it: develop in their usual editor, then send difficult high-ISO or soft shots through Topaz. It does not organise photos or offer general adjustments and layers. Topaz has moved from perpetual licences to annual and monthly subscriptions, with Personal and Pro tiers that differ on commercial use, and bundles that include its video and upscaling apps. It runs on macOS and Windows.
Best for: Photographers rescuing noisy, soft or low-resolution shots.
