About Dynadot

Dynadot is a US-based domain registrar that doubles as a busy aftermarket for buying and selling domains. Registering a name comes with free DNS management, URL forwarding, a basic website builder, an email address and free WHOIS privacy where the extension allows it. Beyond registration, it runs expired-domain auctions, user auctions, backorders and a Buy It Now marketplace, which makes it popular with domain investors as well as ordinary site owners. Prices for common extensions are competitive and listed openly, and accounts that spend more in a year move to bulk and super-bulk tiers with lower rates and extra tools. It supports hundreds of extensions and offers a full API for automation. It does not sell full web hosting, so most people pair it with a separate host. Everything is managed from its web control panel, with 24/7 support.

Best for: Domain investors and site owners who want cheap registrations plus an active auction marketplace.

Pros and cons

What works

  • Free WHOIS privacy and DNS on eligible domains
  • Large aftermarket with auctions, backorders and Buy It Now listings
  • Volume discounts unlock automatically as yearly spending grows

Why people leave

  • No full web hosting, so sites need a separate host
  • Control panel is crowded with marketplace features casual users don't need
  • Renewal prices for some extensions are well above the first-year price
