About Lara Translate

Lara Translate is a translation service from Translated, the Italian company behind ModernMT and the Matecat CAT tool, and it is the successor that ModernMT customers are being moved to. Instead of a classic neural translation model it uses a language model trained specifically for translation, which lets it take instructions about context and style and explain why it picked a particular wording. It translates text in a very long list of languages, documents in dozens of file formats with layout kept, images and audio, and it offers a voice interpreter mode. There is a free plan with a monthly character allowance and a small free API quota, and paid plans add more characters, pages and features; plugins connect it to Trados, memoQ and other CAT tools. It is still young compared with DeepL or Google, so integrations and third-party reviews are thinner.

Best for: Professionals who want context-aware AI translation with explanations and CAT tool plugins.
