About Mailfence

Mailfence is a privacy-focused email service from Belgium. It gives you OpenPGP end-to-end encryption and digital signatures built into the web app, with a keystore for creating, importing and publishing keys, so you can exchange encrypted mail with anyone using PGP elsewhere. Alongside mail it includes calendar, contacts, documents and groups for sharing. It does not show ads or use trackers and points to Belgian privacy law as legal protection. Mailfence supports IMAP, POP and SMTP, so you can use other mail clients, and it offers custom domains on paid plans. A free plan includes a small amount of storage; paid plans add storage, custom domains and more features. The interface feels utilitarian, PGP requires some understanding of keys, and the free tier is limited enough that it mostly serves as a trial. It suits people who want standards-based encryption rather than a closed system.

Best for: Users who want OpenPGP encryption that works with other PGP tools.
