About Mixpost

Mixpost is a self-hosted social media management tool built on Laravel. You install it on your own server, connect your social accounts, and get a calendar, post queue, media library, templates, basic analytics and team workspaces, with your data staying on your infrastructure. The free Lite edition is open source under the MIT licence and covers core scheduling for a single workspace; paid Pro and Enterprise editions add multiple workspaces, teams, approvals, more networks and, in Enterprise, the ability to resell Mixpost as your own SaaS with subscription billing. Unusually, the paid editions are sold as one-time licences with a year of updates rather than monthly subscriptions, and there is also a hosted cloud option for people who don't want to run servers. The trade-off is the usual self-hosting work: you install it with Docker or PHP, configure each social network's developer app and keep it updated. It runs in the browser on your own domain.

Best for: Agencies and developers who want to own their scheduler and avoid monthly fees.

Pros and cons

What works

  • One-time licences instead of subscriptions
  • Enterprise edition can be white-labelled as your own SaaS

Why people leave

  • Self-hosting and API setup take technical effort
  • Lite edition is limited to core scheduling
  • No social listening
