About NAPS2
NAPS2 (Not Another PDF Scanner 2) is a free scanning app for turning paper into searchable PDFs and image files. It works with scanners from Canon, Brother, HP, Epson, Fujitsu and others through the usual drivers (WIA and TWAIN on Windows, plus native options on Mac and Linux), and supports flatbeds, document feeders and duplex scanning. Pages can be reordered by drag and drop, interleaved for manual duplex, rotated, deskewed and cropped before saving to PDF, TIFF, JPEG or PNG. Built-in OCR makes PDFs searchable in over 100 languages. For offices there is a command-line interface for automation, an MSI installer with group policy settings, portable builds, and network sharing that turns a USB scanner into one usable from other devices. It has no ads and no paid tier; the developer asks for donations.
Best for: Home and office users who scan paperwork to searchable PDFs and want it free.
