About OpenEmu

OpenEmu is a free, open-source Mac app that wraps many emulator cores in one interface designed to feel like native Apple software. You drag in game files you own, and it sorts them by console, fetches box art, and lets you build collections that mix systems. Controllers are detected and mapped automatically, and save states, screenshots and display filters work the same way across systems. Supported consoles cover most of the classic era, from Atari and the NES through the SNES, Mega Drive, Game Boy family, Nintendo 64 and the original PlayStation, plus some arcade hardware. It's deliberately simpler than RetroArch, with fewer settings to tune, which is the appeal for many Mac users. The trade-offs are that it runs only on macOS, development moves more slowly than it once did, and newer consoles are limited or missing.

Best for: Mac users who want classic console games in a tidy library without tuning settings.
