About xemu
xemu emulates the original 2001 Microsoft Xbox at a low level, recreating its hardware rather than translating games directly. That approach gives it broad compatibility with retail games, system software and homebrew. Players can upscale games from the console's native 480p to 1080p and beyond, use save-state snapshots, connect up to four controllers, and link instances over a network for system-link multiplayer or community Xbox Live revival services. You have to supply your own dumps of the Xbox BIOS, MCPX boot ROM and hard drive image, since the project can't legally ship them. Builds are available for Windows (x86-64 and Arm), macOS and Linux; there's no mobile version planned for now. It's free, open source and developed by volunteers, with a community-maintained compatibility list showing how well each game runs.
Best for: Players who want to run their original Xbox library on a modern computer.
