About OsiriX MD
OsiriX MD is a Mac medical imaging workstation from Pixmeo that reads DICOM studies from CT, MRI, ultrasound, PET and X-ray. It covers the full reading workflow: a SQL-backed local study database, 2D viewing with key images and regions of interest, hanging protocols across multiple screens, MPR, curved MPR, MIP and volume rendering, PET-CT fusion and DICOM networking to send and receive studies from a PACS. It is FDA-cleared as a Class II device and CE-labelled, which is the main reason clinics pick it over free forks like Horos. A plugin architecture lets researchers add their own processing tools. OsiriX MD is sold as a subscription; a free OsiriX Lite version exists for evaluation but stamps images as not for medical use and limits some features. It runs only on Macs, with companion apps for iPhone and iPad.
Best for: Radiologists and clinics on Macs who need a certified DICOM workstation.
