About Pantheon
Pantheon is a managed hosting platform built for web teams and agencies running WordPress, Drupal and, more recently, Next.js sites. Every site gets separate Dev, Test and Live environments, Git-based deployments, a command-line tool, backups, logs and a global CDN, so changes move through a set workflow rather than being edited on the live server. Higher plans add on-demand branch environments (Multidev), automated updates with visual regression testing and tools for managing many sites at once. Agencies can build on free sandbox sites and only pay once a site goes live. Pricing is per site, scaling with traffic, and climbs steeply for enterprise and university portfolios. It is a poor fit for someone who just wants a cheap blog host or root access to a server, because the stack is fixed and PHP-only on the CMS side. Everything is run from a web dashboard and the Terminus CLI.
Best for: Agencies, universities and enterprises running many Drupal or WordPress sites with a Git workflow.
