About Papago
Papago is the translation service from NAVER, the company behind South Korea's biggest search portal. It handles typed text, photos, documents, voice and whole websites, and it is widely used in Korea and by learners of Korean because it tends to handle Korean honorifics, slang and sentence structure better than general-purpose engines. Japanese and Chinese are also strong; coverage of other languages is limited compared with Google or Microsoft, and the interface and help pages lean towards Korean users. The web translator and mobile apps are free with a glossary feature for logged-in users. NAVER also sells Papago Plus, a paid business service with features such as document and website translation for companies, and offers API access for partners. Papago runs in the browser and as apps for iOS and Android.
Best for: Anyone translating to or from Korean, and often Japanese or Chinese.
