About PDF Metadata Editor

PDF Metadata Editor does one job: changing the hidden information stored inside PDF files, such as title, author, subject, keywords, dates and XMP metadata. That matters for document management systems, search, accessibility and legal records, and most general PDF editors only expose a few of these fields. The desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux edits every standard field, processes whole folders in batch, can rename files based on their metadata, and has a command-line version for scripts. Files are processed locally. There is also a free online editor that runs in the browser and covers the basic fields. The project has been around for more than a decade and its source code is on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 licence, but the ready-made desktop builds unlock their Pro features through a paid licence sold by monthly, quarterly, half-year or annual terms, with a seven-day free trial. It suits archivists, publishers and anyone tidying large PDF collections.

Best for: People who need to fix or standardise metadata across many PDFs at once.
