About Play!
Play! is an open-source PlayStation 2 emulator developed mainly by one programmer, Jean-Philip Desjardins, with a focus on making PS2 emulation easy to start. It is a high-level emulator, so it does not need a BIOS dumped from a real console, and it avoids per-game tweaking in favour of simple configuration. Its main strength is reach: it runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS and even in a web browser, which makes it one of the few options for PS2 games on iPhone and iPad. Development is steady, with regular builds fixing individual games. It is free, with optional support through Patreon. Compatibility and speed are well behind PCSX2 on desktop, so many games that run perfectly there are slow or broken in Play!.
Best for: Players who want PS2 games on mobile or in a browser without dumping a BIOS.
