About Poweramp
Poweramp is a long-running Android music player for people who keep music files on their phone or SD card. It is known for sound quality and control: hi-res output on supported devices, a 64-band parametric equaliser, tone controls, replay gain, gapless playback and crossfade, and support for most formats, including FLAC, ALAC, DSD and Opus. Its interface can be themed and customised extensively, it handles large libraries and folder browsing well, and it supports Android Auto and lyrics. The developer also makes a separate Poweramp Equalizer app that applies its EQ to other players. Poweramp is not a streaming service and doesn't connect to Spotify or other catalogues. It is sold as a free trial followed by a one-time unlock of the full version, with no subscription. The number of settings can overwhelm casual users, and it is Android-only.
Best for: Android users with local music files who want the best sound and EQ control.
