About Prisma Postgres

Prisma Postgres is a managed Postgres service from Prisma, the company behind the popular TypeScript ORM. It is designed to be the shortest path from a Prisma schema to a running database: you can create one from the CLI, connect with the ORM or any Postgres client, and use built-in connection pooling and query caching that work well from serverless functions. Prisma has added Prisma Compute for running app code alongside the database, and leans into use by AI coding tools that need to provision databases on the fly. Pricing is usage-based, counting operations and storage rather than instance sizes; a free plan with no credit card covers small projects and many databases, and paid plans start at a low monthly price with higher allowances. It is a database service, not a full backend with auth and file storage. It suits TypeScript teams already using Prisma; others may prefer a more established Postgres host.

Best for: TypeScript developers using the Prisma ORM who want a matching managed database.
