About AWS Amplify

AWS Amplify is Amazon's answer to Firebase: a set of libraries, a CLI and a hosting service that let frontend developers define a backend in TypeScript and deploy it onto AWS services. Under the hood your data model becomes AppSync and DynamoDB, auth becomes Cognito, files go to S3 and functions run on Lambda, so you get the scale and compliance of AWS while working mostly in code. Amplify Hosting deploys static and server-rendered frontends from Git, with branch previews, which also makes it a Vercel or Netlify alternative for teams already on AWS. There is no separate Amplify subscription: you pay for the underlying AWS resources, and new AWS accounts receive free-tier credits. The flip side is that you are still dealing with AWS concepts, IAM permissions and billing when something goes wrong, and moving off means moving off AWS. Client libraries cover JavaScript frameworks, Swift, Android and Flutter.

Best for: Frontend teams inside AWS-based organisations that want a Firebase-like workflow.
