About Qwen Chat

Qwen Chat is the web and mobile assistant built by Alibaba's Qwen team to showcase its Qwen family of models, which are among the most widely used open-weight models in the world. In the app you can pick between Qwen's language, coding, vision and image models, generate and edit images, search the web, upload files and run deep research, and it is free to use. Because the same models are published openly, developers can move from the chat app to running Qwen locally or through Alibaba Cloud. It suits people who want a capable free assistant and like to try new open models soon after release. The caveats are similar to other Chinese AI services: data handling and content rules follow Chinese law, and the interface changes frequently as new models arrive. It runs on the web, iOS and Android.

Best for: People who want a free assistant and early access to Alibaba's open Qwen models.

What works

Free access to many Qwen models in one place
Image generation and editing included
Same models are available as open weights

Why people leave

Data and content rules follow Chinese law
Fast-changing interface and model lineup
Fewer integrations with Western work tools
