About SketchUp

SketchUp is known for making 3D modeling approachable: its push-pull tool turns 2D shapes into 3D forms, and many architects, interior designers, landscape designers, builders and woodworkers use it for concept models and construction drawings. The 3D Warehouse provides millions of free models of furniture, products and fixtures, and the Extension Warehouse adds rendering, analysis and modeling tools. LayOut, included with Pro plans, turns models into dimensioned 2D documents. It is less suited to organic shapes or precision mechanical parts, and large models can slow down. Trimble sells SketchUp by subscription in several tiers: Go for web and iPad, Pro for desktop with LayOut, and Studio for Windows-only advanced visualisation and point-cloud workflows, plus specialist and education plans and a free trial. It runs on Windows and macOS, in the browser and on iPad.

Best for: Architects, interior designers and woodworkers who want quick, intuitive 3D models.
