About SwarmUI

SwarmUI, formerly StableSwarmUI, is a free and open-source web interface for running image and video models on your own hardware. It pairs a familiar tab-and-settings Generate screen, similar to Automatic1111, with a full ComfyUI workflow editor underneath, so beginners can start with simple controls and later drop into nodes. It supports current open models, grids for comparing settings, model management and the ability to spread work across several GPUs or machines. It is developed by Alex Goodwin (mcmonkey), originally at Stability AI, and is licensed under MIT. It runs on Windows, Linux and Apple Silicon Macs, and can be tried in Google Colab or installed on a cloud server. It suits people who want ComfyUI's model support without living in a node graph.

Best for: Local users who want simple controls with ComfyUI's power underneath.

Pros and cons

What works

  • Easy Generate tab plus full ComfyUI editor
  • Permissive MIT licence
  • Can spread work across multiple GPUs

Why people leave

  • Smaller community than ComfyUI or Automatic1111
  • Interface is functional rather than polished
  • Still needs a capable GPU
