About TechSmith Audiate
Audiate, from TechSmith, the company behind Camtasia and Snagit, is an audio editor that transcribes your recording and lets you edit it like a text document: delete a word or sentence in the transcript and the matching audio is removed. It can flag and remove filler words and pauses in bulk, clean up audio, translate transcripts into several languages, generate AI voices, and export captions and scripts. It is aimed at people who record narration for training videos, tutorials, presentations and marketing, rather than musicians or podcast producers who need multitrack mixing, and it fits particularly well with Camtasia, where the same text-based editing works on screen recordings. Audiate is sold as an annual subscription, alone or bundled with Camtasia, with business plans per user, and a free trial is available. It runs on Windows and macOS. Transcript-based editing is quick, but fine-grained waveform work and effects are limited compared with dedicated audio editors.
Best for: Trainers and video creators who record narration and want to edit it like text.
