About Upside

Upside is a free US app that pays cash back when you buy fuel, groceries or meals at participating local businesses. You open the app, claim an offer at a nearby gas station, store or restaurant, then pay as normal with a credit or debit card; the purchase is matched to your card or receipt and the cash back appears in your account. Because it works with the card you already use, the rewards stack on top of card points and store loyalty schemes. Earnings can be cashed out to a bank account, PayPal or gift cards. Gas offers are what most people know it for, and offers vary a lot by area, so rural users may see few nearby. Upside makes its money from the businesses, which pay for new and returning customers, so there is no subscription for shoppers. It runs on iOS and Android.

Best for: US drivers and shoppers who want cash back on fuel, groceries and dining they already buy.
