About Yandex Translate

Yandex Translate is the translation service from Yandex, the Russian search company. It translates words, phrases and longer texts, text in photos and pictures, and whole websites, and it offers a dictionary view with examples for single words. Its reputation rests on Russian, Ukrainian, Kazakh, Turkish and other languages of the region, where many users find it more natural than Western engines. It is available as a website, a mobile web version, and apps for Android and iOS, and it is also built into the Yandex Browser. The consumer service is free; businesses can buy API access through Yandex's cloud platform. Some users avoid it because data is handled by a Russian company, and its site uses aggressive bot checks that can get in the way of automated tools. Outside its home languages, quality is generally on par with or behind Google.

Best for: People translating Russian and other Eastern European or Central Asian languages.
