About Zero

Zero is one of the best-known intermittent fasting apps. Its core is a one-tap fasting timer that shows progress through your fast in real time and builds up insights from your history, and you can end a fast from a smartwatch. In recent versions it has added meal tracking: snap a photo or type what you ate and it estimates the meal with protein front and centre, feeding a daily Protein Score meant to help you protect muscle while eating in a shorter window. It also sets a personal water goal and tracks hydration, with streaks, badges and articles for motivation. The basic fasting timer is free; the fuller coaching, insights and logging come with a paid membership that starts with a free trial. Zero runs on iPhone and Android and suits people for whom fasting is the main habit and food logging is secondary.

Best for: People who make intermittent fasting their main habit and want light meal tracking alongside.
