About Zrythm
Zrythm is a digital audio workstation created by Alexandros Theodotou and released as copyleft free software. It is aimed mainly at electronic music production and emphasises automation: plenty of parameters can be automated or modulated, and it supports LV2 and VST plugins, MIDI editing, chord tools and a clip-based arranger alongside the timeline. It started life on Linux and that remains its main platform, though Windows and macOS builds are available. Because the source code is free, you can compile it yourself at no cost or get it from Linux distributions, while the official installers use a tiered model: a basic free installer with a track limit and paid installers or a subscription that unlock unlimited tracks and extra plugins. The project is young and developed largely by one person, so expect rough edges, changing features and a much smaller community than Ardour or LMMS. It suits curious Linux musicians and supporters of free software.
Best for: Linux-based electronic musicians who want a modern free-software DAW.
