Both apps cover the same core tasks: recharging prepaid numbers, paying postpaid bills, checking data usage and validity, and managing several numbers from one login. Both are free on Android and iOS, and what you actually pay for is the mobile plan. Each is useful only if you are a customer of that network, so coverage in your city matters more than the app when deciding between Jio and Vi.
MyJio is built as a front door to Jio's ecosystem. Alongside recharges it links a JioHome Wi-Fi line, lets you book and track new broadband connections, and pulls call and data statements for up to 6 months. It also opens JioAICloud with 50 GB of free storage, a finance tab with UPI that works in the UAE, Singapore, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and France, live TV with 1000+ channels, games, grocery shopping and doctor consultations. Login is by OTP only, so you need the phone with the Jio number, and people who just want recharges may find the extra sections busy.
The Vi App is narrower and more focused on rewarding app use. Some daily-data packs get an extra 2GB/5GB when bought in the app, bill payments carry no convenience fee, and UPI autopay can handle prepaid recharges automatically. It also lets you recharge for friends and family and raise service requests. Like MyJio it bundles entertainment, with Vi Movies & TV, caller tunes, games and shopping, which some users find cluttered, and its app-only offers change often and come with conditions.
If you already have a Jio mobile number and JioHome broadband, MyJio is the better fit because it puts both lines, cloud storage and payments in one place. If you are on Vi, the Vi App is worth using over third-party recharge apps for the data bonuses and fee-free bill payments. Neither app is a reason on its own to switch networks.

Several Vi numbers can be managed from one login. Vi steers people to the app with app-only extras: some daily-data packs get extra data when bought in the app, and bill payments carry no convenience fee. Like other Indian carrier apps it also bundles entertainment, with Vi Movies & TV, caller tunes, games and a shopping section. The app is free on Android and iOS; what you pay for is a Vi prepaid or postpaid plan.
