About Altair GraphQL Client
Altair is a dedicated GraphQL client for writing and debugging queries against any GraphQL server. It loads your schema through introspection to give autocompletion and documentation, and supports variables, headers, file uploads, subscriptions over WebSockets and other transports, pre- and post-request scripts, environments, query history and saved collections that you can export and share. A plugin system lets you add features, and it can be embedded in your own server as a web page. Altair is free and open source under the MIT licence, with desktop apps for Mac, Windows and Linux, extensions for Chrome and Firefox, and a web version, plus optional cloud sync of collections for teams. The trade-offs are that it is focused on GraphQL only, so you still need another tool for REST or gRPC, and it is largely maintained by one developer with sponsor support. It suits developers who work with GraphQL APIs every day and want more than a basic playground.
Best for: Developers who work with GraphQL APIs daily and want a dedicated client.
