About Bandcamp
Bandcamp is an online music store and community built around direct support for artists and labels. Musicians set up a page, upload their music, choose prices (including pay-what-you-want) and sell digital albums, vinyl, CDs, cassettes and merch, while Bandcamp takes a fixed revenue share. Fans can stream most music for free before buying, then download purchases in formats such as FLAC, MP3 and ALAC and stream their collection in the Bandcamp app. It is especially strong for independent, experimental, electronic and underground music, and its editorial site Bandcamp Daily and Bandcamp Fridays, when it waives its share, are well loved. Bandcamp was sold by Epic Games to Songtradr in 2023, which led to layoffs and some worry among artists about its future, though the service continues. It is not a subscription streaming service, so it complements rather than replaces Spotify. It runs on the web, iOS and Android.
Best for: Fans who want to buy music in lossless formats and support independent artists directly.
