About Captions
Captions is an AI video creation and editing app from Mirage, a New York company that used the name Captions until it rebranded in 2025. It started as a way to add animated subtitles to talking-head videos and now covers much of the short-form workflow: automatic captions in more than 100 languages, a teleprompter, one-tap AI edits that add cuts, zooms, music and effects, a chat-based editor, clip extraction from long videos, AI voiceovers and voice cloning, translation with lip-synced dubbing, eye-contact correction and AI avatars or digital twins that can present scripts for you. A free version handles basic trimming and captions with limited templates; paid tiers add generative AI features with monthly credits that roll over for up to two extra months. It runs on iPhone, Android and the web. It suits creators and marketers making social videos and ads, not people editing long films.
Best for: Creators and marketers who film talking-head videos for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
