About Cider
Cider is a third-party desktop app for listening to Apple Music, developed by the Cider Collective. It started as an open-source Electron project to give Linux and Windows users a better Apple Music experience than the web player or iTunes, and has since become a paid app with a rebuilt codebase. It uses your existing Apple Music subscription and adds a fast, customisable interface with themes, a mini player, an immersive full-screen view, synced and translated lyrics, Last.fm scrobbling, Discord status and audio tweaks, plus an Android app and remote control. It is especially popular on Linux, where Apple offers no official client. Cider is sold through its own Taproom store and some app storefronts, and it requires an Apple Music subscription to play anything. Because it is unofficial, its features depend on how Apple's services behave, and some Apple Music features may lag behind the official apps. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, with an Android version.
Best for: Apple Music subscribers on Linux or Windows who want a nicer desktop app.
