About DatoCMS

DatoCMS is a hosted headless CMS built by a small company in Italy. Developers model content with fields and modular content blocks, and fetch it through a fast GraphQL Content Delivery API, while editors work in a tidy interface with drafts, scheduling, workflows, localisation and structured text. Its image and video pipeline is a highlight: responsive images, blur-up placeholders and transformations are built in, which helps sites built with Next.js, Nuxt, Astro or SvelteKit score well on performance. A plugin marketplace and many starter projects make it quick to get going. There is a free plan with a small number of editors and records, then a Professional plan with add-ons for extra projects, sandboxes and collaborators, and agency programs. Prices are listed in euros. The trade-offs are a smaller community than Contentful or Sanity, and limits on the free plan that stop service rather than bill overages. It is a web app.

Best for: Agencies and developers who want a ready-to-use hosted CMS with great image handling.
