About Edabit
Edabit is a practice site built around thousands of very small programming problems, aimed at people who have finished a tutorial and need repetition to become fluent. Each challenge gives a short task, examples and a test suite; you write a function in the browser editor and press Check. Challenges are tagged by topic and difficulty, starting at "very easy" exercises such as returning the sum of two numbers, and you earn XP and levels as you go. When you're stuck, Edabit gives a small hint about what's failing rather than the full solution, and community solutions can be unlocked if you really need them. It supports eight languages: C#, C++, Java, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby and Swift. A free account is enough to start solving. It's a gentler on-ramp than interview-prep sites, but it doesn't teach concepts from scratch and its problems stay short, so it won't stretch experienced developers.
Best for: Beginners who want daily, low-pressure practice after finishing an intro course.
Pros and cons
What works
- Very short problems that are easy to fit into a spare few minutes
- Hints point at the bug instead of handing over the answer
- XP and levels give a visible sense of progress
Why people leave
- Problems stay small, so it won't prepare you for harder interview questions
- No lessons or courses; you need to learn the basics elsewhere
- Only eight languages, with no Go, Rust or Kotlin
