About Encore

Encore is an open-source backend framework for TypeScript and Go in which you declare infrastructure, such as databases, pub/sub topics, cron jobs and object storage, directly in your application code. Locally, the CLI runs everything for you with tracing and a service catalogue; in production, Encore Cloud provisions the matching resources in your own AWS or Google Cloud account and handles deployment, preview environments and observability, without Terraform or YAML. The result sits between a framework and a platform: you keep ownership of the cloud account and resources, but get a Heroku-like workflow. The framework is free under the Mozilla Public License, and you can also build Docker images and deploy them anywhere yourself. Encore Cloud has a free plan for development environments and paid plans priced per team member plus per cloud environment and resource. It requires writing your backend in Encore's style, so it is a fresh-start choice more than something to retrofit onto an existing app.

Best for: TypeScript or Go teams that want infrastructure from code, deployed into their own AWS or GCP.
