About Porter
Porter gives teams a Heroku-style deployment experience while running everything inside their own cloud account. You connect AWS, Google Cloud or Azure, and Porter provisions and manages a Kubernetes cluster there, then lets developers deploy apps from GitHub with buildpacks or Dockerfiles, set environment variables, add preview environments and scale services from a dashboard, without writing Kubernetes manifests. Because the infrastructure lives in your account, you can use cloud credits, keep data in your own network and meet compliance needs, which is a common reason startups move to Porter from Heroku as they grow. Pricing is Porter's platform fee charged per unit of RAM and CPU your apps use, on top of what you pay your cloud provider. It is a better fit for funded startups and growing teams than hobbyists, since the cloud provider bill and a managed cluster carry a baseline cost even for small apps.
Best for: Startups moving off Heroku that want to run in their own cloud account and use credits.
