About ExcalidrawZ
ExcalidrawZ wraps the Excalidraw hand-drawn canvas in a native Apple app, built in SwiftUI by Chocoford. It keeps the familiar drawing experience and standard .excalidraw files, then adds the parts a browser tab lacks: a local file library with groups and recent files, file history, canvas search, library management, PDF import and image or vector PDF export. Drawings stay on your device by default, with iCloud-aware storage and optional linked folders in Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox or WebDAV. Sensitive drawings can be locked with encryption and opened with Touch ID or a recovery key. Optional extras include an AI chat that can read and edit the canvas, an MCP connection and LaTeX formulas. The app is open source under the MIT licence and free to download for macOS, iPadOS and iOS, with AI usage sold through in-app plans. It suits Excalidraw fans on Apple devices; it isn't aimed at real-time team whiteboarding.
Best for: Excalidraw users on Apple devices who want local files and a native app.
