About Microsoft Whiteboard

Microsoft Whiteboard is a digital canvas for sketching, brainstorming and teaching that comes with Microsoft 365 accounts. It supports inking with pen or finger, sticky notes, shapes, text, images, documents and templates for common activities like brainstorms, retrospectives and lesson plans. Its biggest advantage is integration: you can start a whiteboard during a Teams meeting, in chats and channels, use it on Surface Hub and Microsoft Teams Rooms devices, and boards are stored in OneDrive. Copilot in Whiteboard can suggest ideas, organise notes into categories and summarise boards for licensed users. It runs in the browser and as apps for Windows and iOS, with Android access too. Compared with Miro or Mural it has far fewer templates, integrations outside Microsoft and facilitation tools, and some features depend on work or school accounts. For organisations already on Microsoft 365, though, it is a no-extra-cost option that is good enough for many meetings and classrooms.

Best for: Organisations and schools already on Microsoft 365 and Teams.
